Lion Confirms Mechanism for Increasing
Permeability of Hair-growth Drug
Leading Japanese cosmetics and toiletries manufacturer Lion has elucidated a mechanism for increasing the permeability of hair-growth drug.
Lion has confirmed that the permeability of cytopurine (6-benzyl aminopurine), a kind of hair growth ingredient, is increased as octyldodecyl lactate, an alpha-hydroxy acid derivative, rearrays the lipid molecules of intercellular lipids.
In particular, a hair-growth drug containing octyldodecyl lactate increases permeability 2.4 times, reinforcing the hair-growth promoting effect.
Details of the research will be unveiled at the 126th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan to be held in Sendai in March.
