The Beano goes bald for Comic Relief
The Beano goes bald next week, with this Red Nose Day special issue, guest edited by none other than Harry Hill himself.
Everyone gets balded, thanks to Harry's miraculous Shaver, even Royalty!
The TV Burp star, who will oversee the Red Nose Day “bald” special, is only the second outsider to guest edit the comic – following Wallace And Gromit creator Nick Park.
Harry’s written some of his own strips as well as co-writing the main Dennis The Menace storyline, which sees the mischievous character getting his head shaved.
Meanwhile, One Direction are also being immortalised in a Beano strip for Comic Relief.
The chart-topping stars are to appear in a monthly spin-off from the long-running children’s magazine BeanoMAX.
Other big names to make a guest appearance in the comic are Jessie J, Olly Murs and former Doctor Who star David Tennant.
The famous names come together to enable regular Beano faces such as Dennis and Minnie The Minx to put on a charity show.
One Direction, who last week won a “global success” Brit Award to recognise their international sales, said:
“We’ve grown up with the magazine so now to actually appear in it with Dennis and Gnasher is incredible.”
Mike Stirling, editor-in-chief of The Beano and BeanoMax, said: “It was brilliant fun imagining how Jessie, Olly, David and 1D would interact with our mischievous characters.
“I hope they enjoy the results as much as our readers and their fans will.”
