P-Rays "Salute to Baldness Night" at August 26 game

In tribute to both 2006 Princeton Devil Rays' catcher Craig Albernaz and to the team's fans who are bald, the P-Rays announced on August 16 that the team will add a late "event" to its heavy promotional schedule with "Salute to Baldness Night" to be conducted at the team's game on Saturday, August 26 at Hunnicutt Field versus the Johnson City Cardinals. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. with the gates opening one hour prior to game time.

The event will have several elements related to saluting this special group of fans.

All fans who are bald will be admitted free of charge. For those attending with hair on their head, free admission can still be obtained by having their head shaved at the gate by local master barber Joshua Burton of Preston's Barber Shop of Princeton, who will have a barber chair at the gate.

The first three fans with hair who agree to have their head shaved at the gate will be rewarded with a free book of season tickets for the P-Rays' 2007 season.

The first 50 bald fans through the gate will receive a P-Rays' "Bald is Beautiful" t-shirt which will feature Albernaz's name and his uniform number 7 in jersey style on the back of the shirt.

Bald fans who are in the ballpark prior to 6:40 p.m. on the night of the game will join Albernaz on the field for a group picture to be entitled "Alby's Army" with each fan in the picture to receive a copy of the picture.

"We always like to do events that add even more uniqueness to a baseball game. I asked Craig Albernaz if he would be part of an event such as this and he was all for it," commented P-Rays' General Manager Jim Holland, who added that he will be very curious to see if three fans with hair will take him up on his offer of a free book of season tickets for the 2007 season by having their heads shaved.

The team also will have two other additional promotions scheduled for the August 26 game. It will be part four of Mercer County Schools "Character Counts" mini-poster series as the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a 5" x 7" mini-poster of P-Ray third baseman Mike McCormick.

Also, it will be "Suddenlink Customer Appreciation Night" with gifts and giveaways throughout the game to be awarded from Princeton's local cable television provider.
