Volunteers Needed

"Andre Agassi, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel.. " we try to reassure ourselves everything is ok, but most balding men are insecure in their hair loss and want to do something about it.

The smiling celebrity faces in the back of magazines convince us that their hair loss treatment works and that you'll have a full head of hair again in no time.

This all sounds great until you read the small print about the potential side effects and the financial cost!

Shocked at the high prices of some of the current hair loss treatments and the side-effects caused by the drugs available the Pioneer Trading Company want to show that this doesn't have to be the case and are looking for fifty volunteers to try and prove it.

Emu Oil has received massive hype over the last year, following its use by some of the Globe's top sporting stars to help them overcome injuries, most famously Paula Radcliffe, but the oil is also thought to be able to help with hair loss and in America and Australia this is big business.

The Pioneer Trading Company, who are Europe's leading emu oil supplier and own the top brand 'Golden Emu Oil', are keen to try and show the UK public that emu oil isn't just another 'snake oil' and it really can help the 'folliclly challenged'.

They are willing to put their money where their mouth is by asking for 50 volunteers to take part in a study dedicated to the cause.

They will supply each volunteer with six months worth of Golden Emu Oil and monitor their hair growth/loss, to try and get some solid evidence for the oil being a 100% natural and cheap way to help balding men, and women.

The claims made by emu oil producers may seem rather farfetched, but there is strong evidence to prove this is not just another fad.

One of the reasons Paula Radcliffe claimed the oil helped her overcome injuries, prior to the 2003 Flora London Marathon, was that once she applied the oil to her wounds they were seen to heal a lot quicker than expected.

Published work supports this phenomenon with studies showing that when emu oil is applied to skin defects they are seen to heal up to twice as quickly as those defects that haven't had the oil applied. This is explained by the fact that, due to its unique fatty acid make up, emu oil may encourage cell mitosis (division) and growth.

Research appears to show that this process also applies when emu oil is applied to the head and hair!! Dr Michael Holick, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Medicine, Physiology, and Dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine, conducted a study involving Emu Oil, and the results were so outstanding that they have quickly become a topic of conversation in many medical and other journals.

"And when we looked at the hair follicles, and the thickness of the skin, it showed that the hair follicles were much more robust, and that the skin thickness was remarkably increased, suggesting... the stimulation of skin growth and hair growth in these animals. Also, we discovered in the same test that over 80% of hair follicles that had been asleep were woken up, and began growing hair." - Dr. Holick

This is not the only evidence to show that emu oil may help with hair loss. Many cases of baldness are thought to be due to an underlying inflammation of the follicles or the skin surrounding the follicles. Emu oil is already registered as an anti-inflammatory in Australia and there have been many studies published in top journals that show the oil dramatically reducing inflammation on application.

By applying emu oil, which is quickly absorbed and so can effectively reach the hair follicles, directly to the scalp it acts directly at the site where inflammatory reduction is needed.

Finally, the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into the hormone DHT (claimed to be one of the main culprits to cause balding), is known to be inhibited by several of the fatty acids that are present in emu oil. Emu oil could therefore be a new and non expensive way to help prevent the effects of DHT.

With evidence showing emu oil to have a three pronged method to help prevent balding it may yet prove to be one of the most effective treatments available, if you want to help find out please contact the Pioneer Trading Company directly on 01526 344971 / 345613.
