Dr. Michael Vories Performs Largest FUE Scalp Hair Transplant

Dr. Michael Vories, a hair transplant surgeon specializing in follicular unit extraction (FUE) and medical director of Carolina Hair Surgery, has performed the largest FUE scalp hair transplant in a single session ever to date.

The more than 5,000 hair grafts procedure took two full days and was performed on a 50 year old man with male pattern baldness.

The patient, Johnny Casper, traveled from Louisville, KY to Charleston, SC to have the procedure done by Dr. Vories, one of only two doctors who exclusively perform the FUE procedure.

An FUE procedure extracts individual hair follicles and transplants the follicles to designated areas of the scalp where hair loss has occurred. This procedure is less invasive and minimizes visible scarring compared to other hair transplant procedures.

With FUE, the precise and careful extraction of each donor hair and subsequent transplantation dramatically reverses hair loss and eliminates the need for sutures and additional surgeries.

Due to the amount of time and precision an FUE procedure takes, medical doctors tend to shy away from the procedure. A 5,000 plus hair grafts transplant would normally be broken up into smaller transplants due to the tedious nature of the procedure. However, this also adds to the cost.

Casper was interested in taking an aggressive stance towards improving his 20-year hair loss. After a consultation, Dr. Vories found Casper to be an excellent candidate for the FUE procedure and was willing to take on the challenge of completing the largest FUE scalp hair transplant in a single session to date.

Compared to other hair restoration medical practices that use hair transplant technicians, Dr. Vories places each and every one of the hair grafts and performs all aspects of the hair transplant. His expertise in the FUE procedure has made him a desirable choice among patients who spend a lot of time researching hair transplant options.

“Johnny really spent a lot of time researching hair transplants before ever seeking a doctor,” said Dr. Vories. “He knew that he was interested in the FUE procedure because of the proven hair growth results and the less scaring involved on the scalp. Having this procedure performed all the way through by a medical doctor was also important to him.

He had a “go big or go home” attitude and I appreciated his enthusiasm. As a result, I was thrilled to be part of his journey and wanted to take on the challenge of successfully completing the more than 5,000 hair grafts FUE hair transplant.”

Casper has documented his hair transplant journey and all his hair growth results thus far on his own blog, MyFUEHairTransplant.com. More information can also be found at CarolinaHairSurgery.com.
